| The sunny wine village Tramin is situated only 4 km south of
the lake of Kaltern on the South Tyrolean wine road (276 m above sea level). It's the home
of the world-famous wine "Gewürztraminer". This spicy white wine make
our village known all over the world. Reports verify that the "Traminer" was
already much in demand during the middle ages and on no other wine was more besung by
famous poets. |
| The municipality Tramin with its districts Söll and Rungg
comprises an area of about 18 km2 and has 3.000 inhabitants. The picturesque village with
its houses in the centre and its farms has a rustic character. |

 |
| Tramin's museum shows
carefully chosen agricultural tools, which illustrate the rustic working procedures,
especially winegrowing and com production of the past. |
| Besides the parish church with its 86 m high church tower
(it is the highest church tower of Tyrol) and the St. Valentin Church,
the roman church St. Jakob of Kastelaz with its very interesting fresco series, is a
rarity. |
| With the "Imster Schemenlauf" the "Traminer
Egetmann-Umzug" (= carnival parade, every odd year on Mardi Gras) belongs to
the most important Tyrolean carnival traditions. |
| The people of Tramin are known for their cheerful
disposition, their natural hospitality and not at least for their cultural feeling. The
upholders of culture in the music sector are 3 choirs (men's choir, church choir,
chorister of the "Alpenverein"), the folk dance group, the
"Schuhplattler" dancers and finally the 60 members of the band Bürgerkapelle
Tramin, from which the Traminer Böhmische & Tanzlmusig
derive. |
